– What does the acronym SHE mean according to the book?
Whenever you take off something you have to put it back, hidden, if needed or in another form.
– In your words define ‘humanist technologist’
The end design is slave to the user, not the other way around.
– How can you apply the notion of reduce to your own design process? (give a
specific example)
Reduce options to broaden creativity, like restricting some technology options to make people think better without them. For example. I could restrict camera movement to make the cameraperson place the camera in more complex angles and give the footage some interesting effects.
– From what you have read in Chapter 1, explain the relationship between
complexity and simplicity (give 3 specific examples from the book OR your own
experiences)
Diego.... not sure If I agree with your thoughts on "humanist technologist".... the idea of either party being a slave does not promote a positive working experience as Maeda was discussing. Perhaps he is talking about technology that works with and for humans and each party of the humanist technologist seamlessly integrates to the other.
ReplyDeleteCan you give a specific example of how you can apply reduce, like on a project you have worked on in the past or how you would specifically address this idea of reduce in an upcoming project... more specifics please!
A bit more detail Diego... looks like these are just your postings from class and your initial thoughts. You will need to expand on these in order to use this space as a creative and reflective space and also to meet assessment competencies.
I look forward to reading what you will add.
Regards,
Peter.
